Workshops & Tours

Pelham Plants garden tour.

We love to share our knowledge and experience with participants on workshops and tours.   These pre-booked activities are a great opportunity for you to learn in a relaxed practical setting, gaining insight about plants and techniques that you can take back to your own gardens.

Our nursery and garden have a wide range of plants, designs and natural features to discuss and learn from, and we use a wide variety of on-site propagation and plant-care methods that we can share and help you practise.

We have ample parking, toilet facilities, indoor and outdoor workspaces to cater for whatever the weather, and good cake and simple refreshments can be provided.

Workshops

Workshops include a mixture of key learning for general good gardening, and things that play to our special interests and local environment. We keep group sizes small to enable a quality educational experience, and combine theory and practice to help get the most out of them.

Examples of the workshops we aim to provide are listed below.  We always blend and adapt the content to suit the needs of the group.

  • Propagation (and care of young plants)
  • Herbaceous perennials for a clay garden
  • Plants for the shady customer
  • Using grasses in the garden
  • Making microclimates in your garden and the art of experimentation
  • Exotics, less hardy, and unusual plants
  • Ferns and foliage

The garden serves as a space to grow on and evaluate the plants we go on to sell in the nursery as well as experiment with different methods and styles of gardening.

Our tours focus on aspects of seasonal interest in the garden with plenty of opportunity for your own observations and questions, and are followed by good tea and cake and a chance to browse the nursery and seek advice about your own plants and gardens.

Take a look at our pages about the garden to see more about what you could see on the tours.
