Plants from the heart of East Sussex

“To see the enjoyment that customers get from finding a choice plant and to hear of their garden successes is what keeps us nursery folk going.  We rarely get to see their gardens, but the joy of a new plant purchase is palpable.”

About Us

Paul has been passionate about perennials for long enough to have stumbled across a good plant or two.  To decide to focus on his own nursery after nearly a decade at Marchants is testament to his determination and energy.  Paul and colleagues at Pelham Plants have long been taking their plants out on the road to plant fairs and special garden events, but they are now delighted to bring you this new website and to open the nursery and garden by appointment. They are looking forward to giving you greater access to the plants they love.

Plants by mail order is as easy as 1,2,3…

Paul Seaborne has had a number of careers but finally found a way to make his love of gardens into a way of life in his 40s. After working for a number of inspirational Sussex nurseries including Pure Plants and Marchants Hardy Plants, he finally decided to focus solely on his beautiful home garden & nursery and on his work at plant fairs.

Paul says, “To finally get to devote myself entirely to the challenge of my own nursery has been long coming… I have absolutely loved my time working at great nurseries, but you are only ever a visitor in a foreign land and can never really feel at home. I had to grasp the opportunity to create my own haven, and fully indulge my passion for plants, for the nursery life and for my own garden.

I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones, almost as much as I look forward to finding new plants!”

What we do best

“The love of plants and the thrill of propagation is what drives me.  The germination of seed will leave me childishly agog.  Tray after tray of rooting cuttings never ceases to amaze.  The discovery of a new method of cracking the production of a tricky plant is bliss.  I can’t wait to get even more stuck in at my very own nursery!”
