Welcome

Welcome to Pelham Plants, an RHS Chelsea 2024 Gold winning nursery with a passion for choice perennials. We thrive on propagating and growing our own plants, using traditional and sustainable methods.

We look forward to welcoming you to our nursery, our workshops and garden tours or perhaps we will see you out and about at RHS Chelsea or one of the many plant fairs we attend.

Workshops & tours

Our nursery and garden have a wide range of plants, styles and on-site propagation. These provide a great opportunity to share our enjoyment and learning of gardening  through workshops, group visits and tours. We love to teach and spend time with visitors to help really understand the plants and key principles and advice that you can take back to your own gardens.

Example workshop

Propagation is the engine that drives Pelham Plants – join us at one of our regular Propagation Workshops where we guide you and share our tricks and tips for increasing your stock of plants.

Garden tours

The private garden serves as a space for enjoyment, but also as our stock bed to grow on and evaluate the plants we go on to sell in the nursery. Join us for a guided tour of the borders and display beds that are otherwise rarely open to the public. Each tour varies and will focus on seasonal plants, garden tasks and interesting topics.

The Garden

The garden sits in a peaceful woodland edge setting and has kept evolving since Paul has lived here. We balance the aesthetics and enjoyment of the garden, with its function as a stock bed for many of the plants we then propagate and sell in the nursery and at our fairs. The garden showcases a wide range of herbaceous perennials, woodland plants and ferns, hardy exotics, unusual shrubs and annuals which alter from year to year. There is always something new to see, including the new bog garden and prairie borders being developed for 2025.

The garden is only open by prior arrangement on one of our tours or other activities.

Our favourite plant fairs

We are a small nursery in an isolated woodland setting, so we often enjoy showcasing our plants at plant fairs and events across the South East.

Great Dixter Plant Fairs generally held twice each year are an excellent opportunity to meet expert growers from all over the country.  We would go and buy great plants even if we weren’t selling there!

This is a first class nursery, with everything grown on site.  A wide selection of familiar and unusual plants.  I have been delighted with the health of the plants bought last year and this year. Great advice from Paul on planting and habitat. Highly recommended.
