Pelham Plants nursery & Paul’s private garden
After an unprecented level of demand in recent months we have taken the decision to close the nursery from Friday 2nd October. Our last event this year will be at Great Dixter Plant Fair on Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th October.
Thanks to all our customers and friends for making this such a successful year. We look forward to welcoming you back to our bigger and better nursery in mid-March 2021. Keep following us on social media and look out for our new list of 2021 events.
Keep well. Keep gardening. Paul
Visit the nursery
Pelham Plants Nursery is on a delightful 2 acre site hidden away in a wooded area of Laughton in the Sussex Weald. We chose ‘Pelham’ as the village of Laughton has strong historical connections with the Pelham family, and our property was once part of the extensive estate of the Earl of Chichester, Baronet of Laughton.
To date, the nursery has focused on mail order, trade customers and attending plant fairs. From 2020 we proud to open to the public for retail. To give customers privacy, a relaxed atmosphere and to aid social distancing we are welcoming customers by appointment only. Making even a last minute appointment is easy via the online booking form below.
We encourage visitors to discuss their requirements with us on the nursery number 07377 145970 before travelling long distances. Mail order and our extensive local delivery service is continuing. Please see our ‘purchase’ page for more details. Pre-ordered plants can be also be collected from the nursery stand at any of our events.

Visit the garden
We visited Pelham Plants in September and the colours were stunning. To be surrounded by mature woodland and experience an oasis packed with vivid asters and subtle grasses was quite special. We loved the tour.Mrs. E. Barnes
Paul’s private garden is open to pre-booked groups for guide tours. The garden is a testing ground for new plants and the source of the plant material for the nursery. Whilst there is plenty of interest for most of the year, the colours and textures of the mostly perennial garden is really of interest from July until October. Please discuss your group requirements with us.
To aid a safe and enjoyable group visit, we have restricted group numbers and put in place social distancing and cleanliness measures. Contact us for advice.
